Eye of the beholder

I did a massive re-write on the short story. Okay, not super massive, but it added 4 pages of text and (hopefully) clarified a main theme in the story. I'm waiting for critique from a friend and then I will do any minor edits left and mail it off. Here's hoping!

The novel is still bouncing around and I do want to get some of those character back-stories done. I just hate having to continue to keep it on pause. I do think that this step is necessary and will prove incredibly useful in the not-so-distant future. One character in particular feels as though she has a very strong and unique background that may lend a lot of meat to the story once I get it worked out.

The novel writing class is going well. I'm enjoying the discussions and the assignments are interesting. Next week we start Character Development. I've been looking forward to that. For me, that will be the main course (no pun intended) of this whole thing. I can't wait. I do worry that it may just be all old ideas and nothing new, but that hasn't really happened yet, so no worries. Okay, my typing is going steadily downhill, so off to bed for me. 8)
