Set back

This week I had a bit of a setback in my writing: a computer crash. Not just a little one, but a big one. My laptop, which has caused me minor issues for a while, decided to freeze and then shut down. Upon booting up, it would not run the operating software. We attempted to reload the software to correct whatever critical error the system was seeing, but the system powered off again mid-load. When it came to, the software ran, but it appeared to have reformatted the hard drive, thus losing the data there.

I'm a chicken. I save stuff to my external drive, but I've been neglectful due to some geographical issues. I fear looking on that drive and seeing the precious photos and thoughts that I have lost forever. Fear is a humbling thing.
